Leadership Alive: The Big Idea

We live in the most demanding and perplexing times leaders have ever faced. Because contemporary culture is changing, new methodologies and practices are needed to inspire better, educate, and train new and emerging leaders of the 21st century. Many leaders need direction on which core leadership competencies and qualities are central to their development and effectiveness in our changing postmodern world.

This book identifies the core competencies effective leaders employ and explores which of the competencies are catalytic in the development and future training of a new kind of leader. This book is research-based and is founded upon interviews with 20 national leaders from diverse industry backgrounds.

Inside the Book Chapters

Leadership Alive begins with a brief overview of leadership and the growing problem of leadership competency overload.

After reviewing the history of leadership and four major leadership models surrounding effective leadership practice, the book explores the changing 21st-century culture and its spread throughout Western society.

Chapters 4-7 introduce the concept of the Holistic Leadership model: the head, hands, and heart of an effective 21st-century leader and explore the specific head, hands, and heart competencies (thinking, doing, and being) next-gen leaders need to embody if they’re to be effective and relevant to those they lead.

The book concludes by unpacking the catalytic competencies that next-generation leaders employ and the emergence of a new ETHIC, which is the impetus and guiding compass for the new breed of leaders for a new kind of world.
